The Cape Ann TV September 25 event Honoring Virginia Lee Burton Family Arts celebration was an enjoyable family event. More than 300 people attended the event held at former Gloucester home of Virginia Lee Burton. Dozens of volunteers and members of the Cape Ann TV Board of Directors and staff collaborated to honor Burton. Adults and children enjoyed block prints with Art Haven staff, participated in drama games with bubbly Joanne "Jojo" LaRiccia, heard excerpts of stories read by Lucille LePage, went on an adventurous Scavenger Hunt coordinated by Stacy Randell, listened to the Plum Cove School Singers directed by Connie Richards, took pictures with life-sized wooden cutouts of Burton's children's book characters created by Art Haven staff, sipped fresh cider and enjoyed lemonade pops made by Anne Jones. Visitors had the opportunity to purchase two wonderful programs, " A Sense of Place," produced by Christine Lundberg and "Folly Cove Designers," produced by Sinikka Nogelo. A rare and unique Christmas greeting print of an original Virginia Lee Burton linotype was up for bid as a silent auction item; the printing donated by the Sarah Elizabeth Shop and framing donated by the Garage School of Art at Beverly Farms.
